Extreme Makeover Home Edition - Westbrook Family 3 of 5

Aired - April 22nd, 2007
The Westbrook’s, a family struck by two separate tragedies, have their home rebuilt by Ty and the team. Father Gene was wounded and left paralyzed in the Iraq War. A year later, a traffic accident left his son, James, paralyzed and other family members injured. Ty and the team make their home wheelchair accessible. Gene was honored with the Purple Heart by the military for exemplary courage shown during an Operation for Iraqi Freedom in which he had suffered paralysis due to sever injuries. After returning home, he devoted his time to help others in the town. As a mark of gratitude to this brave son of the soil, Ty and the designers, local builder Ron Nance’s The Oaks Development Company and hundreds of volunteers and workers come together to make the Westbrook home safe and handicapped-accessible in just seven days.
